Sodak Socks and Soviet Ghosts.
Tbilisi, Georgia. On October 13th, 1978, the first Aquatic Sports Complex in the Caucasus region opened its doors under the name ‘Leninist Komsomol’.
After the fall of the USSR, it was renamed ‘Laguna Vere’ — a new name for a fading era.
Today, 47 years later, we find ourselves standing in its ruins — concrete walls, broken tiles, empty pools now filled with mud and a heavy silence hanging in the air.
A grand Soviet dream, cast in raw brutalist concrete.
We couldn’t walk past this forgotten place without taking moment. Wearing our new Sodak Socks, we made a stop, took it in and used the moment to put them to test— deep in the city — before heading northwest into the Caucasus mountains to lose ourselves in nature.
