In 1970, Warren Harding was 2,000 feet up El Capitan attempting the "impossible wall of early morning light."
Twenty-eight days into the climb, reporters following the story became convinced he was in trouble. Without being asked, they organized a rescue.
Harding's response arrived in a tuna can thrown off the wall, with a handwritten note inside:
"A rescue is unwarranted, unwanted and will not be accepted."
Harding eventually reached the summit and made the impossible possible.
Years later, when people pointed out all the things he couldn't do as a climber, Harding smiled and replied: "I know, but I can do it forever."
The willingness to stay with something long after the enthusiasm is gone is something we admire at Melou.
