Hope is not naive optimism - it is the determination to keep walking despite suffering.

The smell of dry salted wood and dead cured fish smokes the air as the morning and evenings red surreal sun rises.

Ambitious eyes of wondering men prepare their fishing nets as the days alchemy turns the ocean swell to gold and crashes its light on the shores giving them hope for the days to come.

The shore have become chapters of footprints that tells of fortune and poverty as the beautiful painted boats head out the days destiny.

Rubber skins and buckets empty of plastic wishes that gathers a profound strength that screams out we are the women of this community that nurture our children's belly's to achieve what their hearts desire and so positively deserve.

Fear sneaks up all the time as the soldiers keep a Birds Eye view over the innocents hearts that are captured and used to fill the desire of a beast that has no place amongst the lands soul.

Found a lost roll of film from our trip through Angola. Shot entirely on a Nikon Nikonos V. These are not only pictures but fragments of a country, its history, and the quiet optimism of a place looking into the future while never forgetting about its past.
