Grey mélange is built at the yarn stage. Instead of dyeing the fabric after knitting, textile mills dye the cotton while it’s still loose fiber.
White cotton fibers + black dyed cotton fibers are physically blended in controlled ratios (e.g. 85/15, 70/30, 50/50) and spun together into a single yarn. This determines how light or dark the grey is.
The result → visually grey, but with specks, movement, and depth.
Because the color is created inside the yarn, not applied on the surface, grey mélange isn’t uniform. It has depth and texture. It reflects light differently. It ages better.
