Sharing meals and watching them repair the boats at the dry docks. After a surf or fishing off the harbour wall, Kalky’s was the place to be.

Weekly friday trips to Kalk Bay, we would rush down and burn the catch of the day for the evening braai. Nothing tastier than fresh fish, to add more salt to your tears.

Sometimes it feels like the breath of the fish pushing out its last breath as it's taken on board then to our plates.

Reflection on my recent stay in South Africa, sharing beautiful moments with my brother Shafiek, searching for waves along the coast, surfing the reef in Kalk Bay and spending time exploring the depths of the self.
