We’ve always been deeply interested in color.
It was the first thing that caught our attention when we saw a Rothko painting, but as we took the time to really look, we realized that his paintings are about much more than color.
It was during a conversation with Selden Rodman for his book ‘Conversations with Artists’ in New York in 1957 that Rothko said:
"I’m interested only in expressing basic human emotions – tragedy, ecstasy, doom and so on – the people who weep before my pictures are having the same religious experience I had when I painted them, and if you… are moved only by their colour relationships, then you miss the point."
After a few days off, we’re back at work with fresh energy, looking forward to designing and making the clothes we like to wear. Eager to get our hands dirty again.
